ALEXA CHUNG FOR EYEKO

Hello Suzies,

If you couldn't guess by the title of this post I am VERY excited about the products I purchased yesterday at Sephora! ALLELUIA

Alexa Chung is  the definition of "cool" in my world.  She has done nearly everything that a girl interested in beauty, fashion, and music would dream of doing in their lifetime.  I first discovered Alexa when she hosted a talk show on MTV called It's On! with Alexa Chung.  I watched that show faithfully until it went off the air :( - sad day.
Alexa has an impeccable taste of style and has become iconic.    Her attitude is probably her most identifiable asset.  She is willing to give her blunt opinion on anything and everything which I find extremely admirable.  If you are interested, her book is uber fabulous!  Furthermore, back to the beauty!!

I started out by applying a thin layer of tinted moisturizer all over mah face.  I then went and cover up a couple of spots with a little bit of concealer and finally filled in my eyebrows with a eyebrow pencil.. who would've thought.
I then got a hold of my Eyeko "eye do" mascara and put 2-3 coats on my lashes so they looked at maximum volume!
Voila!

Finally the moment I had been waiting for for the past 3 months, the application of the cat-eye.
Step 1: draw a straight line that looks as if it is just a continuation of your lower lash line.
Step 2: make that line into a triangle to ensure a retro cat-eye look.
Step 3: line the rest of your eye and try to let the eyeliner decrease in width as you approach the inner corner of your eye.
Yaaaaaaay!

If you can't get the hang of winged eyeliner your very first try that is completely fine, it takes a LOT of practice... and if you can get it on the first try, girl you deserve the Nobel Peace Prize or something.  I do highly recommend felt tip liner, this one was and it is a life saver!
As far as my overall review of the makeup products, I have to say that the purchase was completely worth a mini-splurge.  I'm usually not one that would spend a lot of money on mascara but the mascara in this package may have changed my perspective.  It has a fanatasic brush that increases length and volume and results in a somewhat 60's look to me.
Alexa has done it again Suzies!

Weekly Weakness

Hello Suzies,

Say au revoir to midday shine!!

This week's weakness is the Rimmel Stay Matte pressed power.  Throughout the day, usually my skin begins to look and feeling greasy/shiny.  I have seen countless reviews of this pressed power so I had to get my hands on it.  I am so incredibly pleased with this product.  It comes in tones AND a translucent tome which is the one I chose.  I use it to finish off my makeup and to touch up when my face starts to look a little too shiney.

Hello Suzies,

Caution barrels and gravel.

Aloha readers!  To most people, the construction taking place downtown where I live is seen as a pain in the rear.  To me, on the other hand, I see it as picture-perfect setting.  I took advantage of it today along with the beautiful weather and here I have for you, an outfit of the day.
I am wearing a tank top from H&M which has a sheer-ish front and on the back it is a sweater material. I know, how versatile!!  My fluorescent coral shorts are from the ever-lovely Anthropologie.  There there, hold your britches I found these on the sale rack.  Yes you can find some of the best things not at full price! My open-toed flats are from Urban Outfitters.  They are black and go with just about anything at the moment, great buy!  The silver bangle I am wearing has become one of my jewelry must-haves.  It has a small braided detail on it; I found it among some other items in my mom's jewelry box.  Never doubt your mother's jewelry box, that place can be filled with treasure envied by pirates.  It can be the "X" on the map of style.  My other bracelet, or cuff, rather is from Forever21 and for me is a statement piece.  My rings that I am wearing are ones that I wear everyday with whatever I am wearing.  My earrings are from Urban Outfitters and they have a turquoise and copper look to them, I like them A LOT.
My makeup today was minimal, so that my eye makeup wouldn't seem too over-the-top.  Instead of wearing foundation, I just used a little bit of concealer here and there.  I used a bright pink blush, and a coral-y lipstick.  For my eyes I decided to try something different, because I generally NEVER wear eyeliner.  I just winged it out for a cat-eye effect and finished off with my favorite mascara EVER, Rimmel's ScandalEyes black mascara!
I promise my fall look book is on its way! Until then..

Kiss my Lips

Hello Suzies,

It has been a while, I hope everyone is OK!  Recently I have accumulated a few lip products.  I have been LOVING them, so I thought I would share my review of these wonders.

From left to right is a lip scrub by Lush, a matte lipstick by MAC, and a lip balm by Evolution of Smooth, or EOS.

Lush is a cosmetic shop, but not just any cosmetic shop.  All products at Lush are handmade, the reason for their claim to fame.  Unlike other handmade cosmetics which are bland and sometimes smelly, the products at Lush smell beautiful and fresh!  Lush offers everything from bath bombs, massage bars, and shampoo to hair dyes, toothpaste tablets, and lip scrubs.  On my recent trip to Lush I picked up a lip scrub, the stuff is magic.  Essentially it is an exfoliater for your lips.  The flavor I chose was Popcorn, since it is a sugar scrub you can indeed taste it if you like!  It has a very popcorn-y smell and taste,  very salty. Just apply the product to your kisser and massage it against your lips, once you rinse your lips will be smoother than ever! (I also recommend the Mint Julips scrub, it leaves a nice cool feeling to your lips!)

Oh MAC!  If you are on the hunt for a quality lipstick, look no further, MAC is the way to go!  I have be searching for the perfect maroon hued lipstick and found my match at a MAC cosmetics counter in Nordstrom.  This shade is called Diva, it is a matte lipstick therefore it does not have a shimmer to it, which I absolutely love!  As most other MAC products their lipsticks are VERY pigmented, and a little bit goes a long way.  What I have found to work best is to use the tip of the bullet to line the lips and blend that onto the rest of the lips.  Then go back and touch up to deepen the color. Et voila!

The EOS lip balms have been going strong for a while now, so recently I decided to get my hands on one.  In it's cutesy egg shape, one cannot help but be curious and attracted to it.  I have be extremely pleased with the quality of this balm.  For me, I love the mint flavored one because it leaves a cold, tingly feeling on your lips.  I apply it anytime I go without lipstick and right before I go to bed.  When I wake up I can still feel it moisturizing my lips!

I hope this was helpful, I'll see you soon with an early fall/back-to-school lookbook!

Trend Report ∙ Bright Eyes

Hello Suzies,

EEEEEP!! I'm so psyched to do this post, I hope you enjoy!

 Final Look

To begin, I use an oil astringent to rid my face of excess oils that, under the makeup, may cause it to move around and smear more easily.  I just pour some on a cotton ball and wipe my entire face with it.  Next, I apply my foundation!  Recently I have been using the Clinique Acne Solutions in the color fresh neutral.  I don't exactly have a problem with breaking out but I like this acne formula in the summer in particular, because it has salicylic acid in it and my skin tends to be more oily in the summer.  So this keeps my face dry and dewy instead of shiny and wet looking.
I then contour my face using bronzer, I use the light/medium shade in the Almost Bronzer by Clinique.  I lightly outline my face, then make a fish face and brush the bronzer into the indented parts of my cheeks.  It may sound silly, but it is a GREAT way to contour you cheeks!  Next up is BLUSH!  My cheeks tend to blush quite a lot naturally, but I still apply a little bit.  In the summer I like to use a melon-y color, I'm wearing Limited Edition: Sweet Melon by Maybelline.  I got this a while ago so they may not sell it anymore but SURELY they have a similar shade!  Just apply that to the apples of your cheeks.  The "apples" of your cheeks are the chubby part of your cheeks when you smile, just beneath your eyes.
The Trend:
Bright Eyes
So this trend has been floating around for a while now and I finally decided to take a swing at it.  Now I know this is on the mild side, but it was my first time, what can I say?  You can definitely go a more dramatic route if you please.  I used the color Sparkling Sage by Clinique and a bright electric blue shade from one of the e.l.f pallets.  I blended the two together and lined my bottom lash line with it.  Then, in the inner corner of my eye I blended in a shimmery white pigment to brighten my eyes a bit more.  After priming my lid, I dusted on a matte off-white shadow and blended a bit more of the Sparkling Sage in my crease and outer corners.
I applied a couple of coats of Benefit's They're Real! mascara, filled in my eyebrows with a coffee bean colored eye shadow, and applied a coat of my trusty Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in shade 12. Et voila, you have a stylish , trendy makeup look to go with the outfit of your liking!
I hope you liked reading this just as much as i enjoyed writing it! Happy July!!
